Colours
Like dragons:
Gold, Bronze, Brown, Blue, Green.
Gold and Green are female. Bronze, Brown and Blue are male.
Names
Names always end in the suffix '-sk'. The closer the name matches their handler's the greater the bond.
Impression
Unlike dragons, Whers do not impress. A blood ritual bonds handler and Wher. It is possible for a Wher to outlive it's handler and form another bond, they have been known to live a long time, possibly up to 100 turns.
Whers do not bond based on colour. This means that it is possible for a male to handle a gold Wher, and a female to handle a bronze.
Size
Smaller than dragons, larger than fire lizards. About the size of a "low slung horse" when full grown.
Eyes
Dragons see heat (infra-red spectrum).
Depending on the Wher's mood, the eye colour changes.
Content/Neutral: Blue/Green
Love: Purple
Anger/Rage: Orange
Lust/Hunger: Red
Alarm: Yellow
Fear: White
Sadness: Gray
Communication
Like dragons, whers are not extremely intelligent. They can convey images, but don't think in words. They can communicate with dragons, but dragons generally will not communicate with whers unless it is necessary.
Whers and their handlers might use sounds to communicate.
Clutches
Gold clutches usually have 10-20 eggs. Greens around 5-15.
The eggs are about half the size of dragons eggs, and are not as smooth in appearance, often being wrinkled. Not all eggs hatch.
Other
I'm still working on this. You're welcome to contribute.
Unlike firelizard and dragon applications, I won't restrict bronze and gold whers unless there's a situation like "seven gold handlers and one blue".
