Naming
Names should not be unpronounceable. Male candidates should also keep in mind that their names will be shortened. Female candidates may also choose to shorten their names, if they impress to green.
Age
At Thorn Weyr, candidates are rarely younger than eleven turns old and usually no older then twenty-two turns. The age has been lowered, to expand the future number of dragons while the Weyr is established. It is a limit currently under debate.
Blue and green dragons usually search in pairs for potential candidates, though other colours have been assigned to search.
Chores
Candidates have various chores assigned to them each morning by the Headwoman or Weyrlingmaster. These chores might be helping in the infirmary or anything through to helping clean the kitchens.
They will receive their chore placement every morning after breakfast.
Shadowing
If a candidate is new to the Weyr, they will most likely be assigned a rider to follow, they will spend their day learning about the duties and jobs of a rider, and about the Weyr itself.
Towards the hatching, all candidates will usually be assigned a rider. no matter what their background.
Relationships
As with Weyrlings, Candidates must not have any sexual contact. They will be expected to control their urges- if they impress, such feelings will confuse the young dragons.
Standing
All candidates will wear white robes at the hatching, but it isn't uncommon at Thorn to see candidates wearing the white before the event. Closer to the time of the hatching, candidates will be guided down to the sands to become familiar with the clutch.
As the eggs begin to hatch, they will form a circle around the clutch. If there is a gold egg, girls who wish to stand for gold will form a separate circle around it.
Impression
Not all candidates will impress, but they may stand again if they do not. Not all candidates do, of course, preferring to take up a craft.
Pets
If a candidate has a pet, it will be housed in the kennels or in the barracks. Candidates will be able to see their pets in their free time, or at the end of the day. Felines must not be a nuisance, canines may be expected to work. It is not recommended that a candidate bring a pet if there is any alternative (including housing the pet with the candidate's family).
OOC information
You may submit as many candidates as you like, as with all other characters.
At/after the actual hatching, you may roleplay members of your candidates family, with a limit of three characters. You are not required to submit persona forms for these characters. You may roleplay these characters at the Hatching feast. If you wish to roleplay them after that, you must submit a form. =)
Closer to the hatching, I will be sending out a mass PM to candidate roleplayers, it's important that this is answered. It will basically ask if you're sure that you want your character to impress on this standing, if they will stand again if they don't, and what colours do you have in mind.
